Parkinson’s Care
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects motor and non-motor functions. The disease affects the dopamine-producing nerve cells in a specific area of the brain. The motor symptoms include muscle rigidity, tremors, speech changes, gait, and balance problems. Some non-motor symptoms include anxiety, apathy, depression, personality changes, cognitive impairment (including Dementia), sleep disturbances, constipation, and smell loss. Sometimes people with Parkinson’s will have Lewy Body Dementia with behavioral disorders. Since there is no cure, treatments help relieve symptoms.
